A recent sewer line backup at Las Brisas has brought to light the need for residents not to flush anything down the toilets except toilet paper. Flushable wipes and paper towels do not break down like toilet paper to pass through to the city sewer pipes. The pipes are 40 years old and items that do not easily break down can catch on the inside and create a back up in the line. Additionally, the sewer lines for the above ground units flow into one pipe on the ground floor that then goes to the main sewer line. The Board will explore options for preventative maintenance on the main sewer pipe connections but there is a risk of another back up if anything other than toilet paper is flushed down the toilet.
